Shooting Water Gas, Police Hit Back To Masses In Solo

Ahead of the night, the police from the Surakarta Police repulsed the protesters in Solo, Central Java.

From observations in the field, the masses came from various groups of people, including online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) and students. In fact, some of them are still wearing school uniforms.

The demonstration was carried out following the death of an ojol driver in Jakarta, Affan Kurniawan, as a result of being run over by a rantis vehicle during a demonstration, Thursday night.

Meanwhile, initially the demonstration centered in front of the Surakarta Brimob Headquarters was conducive. Even ojol drivers and police officers performed occult prayers for the late Affan at Brimob headquarters.

However, protests began to break out in the late afternoon. The riots occurred when the crowd outside the headquarters, both on the front and on the east sides, began throwing stones at the base yard.

Surakarta Police Chief Kombes Catur Cahyono Wibowo asked his members to remain humane. Catur had left to ask the masses to be calmer in holding demonstrations.

Tear gas also fills Manahan Street Vendor Shelters filled with traders and consumers. This condition makes the situation even more chaotic. Even until late at night the officers still fired tear gas shots many times.

Entering Maghrib, the masses began to be successfully dispersed. However, the police were still seen on guard in front of the Surakarta Mobile Brigade Headquarters and the front area of Manahan Stadium.
