BNI Denies His Office Was Damaged By Demonstrators: Only Passing In The Drop-off Area

JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI denied that the mass demonstrations damaged the Pejompongan BNI Tower Building.

The company ensures that the mass of action only passes in the drop-off area.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said a group of demonstrators only passed to residential areas behind the BNI Tower and did not enter the building.

Okki also ensured that there was no damage to the facilities inside the Pejompongan BNI Tower building.

"The conditions at BNI Pejompongan are safe. All tenants inside the building are not damaged and have been handled by their own side," Okki said in an official statement, Friday, August 29.

Okki emphasized that the situation around the office was safe and under control, and ensured that no customers or employees were at the location during the incident.

"At the time of the incident, there were no customers and employees in the area because the branch office's operations were closed and the employees had been sent home early for security reasons," he said.

He said the move to repatriate employees and close operations early was a standard procedure taken in a potentially unfavorable situation.

"BNI always prioritizes the safety of its customers and all employees," he said.

Okki also reminded the public not to be easily consumed by hoax news and always refer to official information from the authorities.

"This clarification is expected to provide an explanation of the actual situation that occurred to the public and straighten out the information circulating," he said.

Video berdurasi 59 detik tersebut menggambarkan suasana cukup tegang, suara tembakan juga terdengar, puluhan masa berlarian melintas di depan Gedung Menara BNI.

Dalam video juga tampak sejumlah anggota TNI di area gedung.

Terlihat juga sebagian dari pendemo memberikan komando untuk lari ke arah belakang gedung Menara BNI Pejompongan.

“Lari, ke belakang. Hati-hati,” ucap salah satu pendemo, dikutip dari video tersebut, Jumat, 29 Agustus.
