FIFA Cases Involving Blatter And Platini Closed After 10 Years
JAKARTA - Swiss Federal Prosecutors finally ended the case against former FIFA President Sepp Blatter and former UEFA President Michel Platini, on Thursday, August 28, 2025, after 10 years and his release after two trials.
The Swiss Attorney General's Office said it would not appeal the release of the two men in March 2025 in the appeals court.
The first trial was held in 2022 on charges of fraud, forgery, mismanagement, and misuse of FIFA funds of more than US$2 million in 2011.

FIFA's funding payments to Platini surfaced in 2015 during a federal investigation into international football officials by federal investigators in the United States and Switzerland.
The charges, which were not proven twice in Swiss courts, removed the two men from office and led to elections in 2016 that appointed Gianni Infantino as FIFA President and Aleksander Ceferin as UEFA President.
Swiss prosecutors on Thursday, August 28, 2025, said that by accepting the appeal court's ruling, they closed a new chapter in a complicated procedure related to football.
