JAKARTA - Based on identification results, two Brimob (Mobile Brigade) officers were sitting in the front of the armored vehicle that ran over online motorcycle taxi driver Affan Kurniawan. Brigadier R was the driver and Police Commissioner C was the passenger. Five other officers were sitting in the back seat.
The Head of the Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the National Police, Inspector General Abdul Karim, stated that the seven Brimob officers had been proven to have violated the police professional code of ethics.
"The driver was Brigadier R. Next to him sat Police Commissioner C. Meanwhile, the other five were sitting in the back: Aipda M, Brigadier D, Brigadier M, and Baraka E and Y," said Abdul Karim at National Police Headquarters on Friday, August 29.
Abdul Karim stated that his team had completed the investigation. Starting today, the seven Brimob officers will be placed under special placement (patsus) at the National Police's Propam Division for 20 days.
"We have determined that the seven alleged violators have violated the police professional code of ethics. We are following up on the recommendation by implementing a 20-day patsus," he said.
Affan's death sparked public outrage and media attention.
The National Police (Polri) ensured that the ethics process was transparent and that further investigation would be conducted if criminal elements were found.
