JAKARTA - Affan Kurniawan (21), an ojol driver, suffered a tragic death on Thursday night, August 28, 2025. His life was taken after a Brimob tactical vehicle ran over him in the Central Jakarta area.
That night, a tense atmosphere was clearly recorded in videos that went viral on social media, especially platform X. In the recording, rantis with the words "Brimob" was seen speeding towards the crowd. The screams of residents and ojol drivers who warned were unable to stop the vehicle. In fact, after the incident, a number of motorcyclists, including Affan ojol colleagues, chased the rantis, demanded justice for the tragedy that had just occurred.

The vehicle in the spotlight in this incident is Rantis Rimueng, Brimob's flagship flagship fleet and has great power. Based on information from the official Instagram account of the Brimob Corps Public Relations (@humaskorpsbrimob) quoted Friday, August 29, 2025, Rimueng is a 3,200 cc engine powered tactical vehicle capable of traveling up to 100 km/hour on urban roads.

Not only fast, this rantis is designed to conquer extreme terrain, it can even climb a 60-degree slope at a speed of 60 km/h. Rimueng is not just an ordinary vehicle. It is equipped with a Mounting gun, two 38mm caliber tear gas launchers, and an automatic firing system capable of throwing up to 15 tear gas bullets.
With a carrying capacity of up to 12 personnel four in the cabin and eight in the outer footstep this is a true war engine.
The exterior is covered with NIJ Level 3 standard steel, meaning that it can withstand high-speed rifle bullets such as 7,62mm NATO M80 and 5,56x45mm M193. The windshield is no less formidable, designed to withstand direct fire.
With a length of 5.33 meters, Rimueng is a steel giant ready for long-distance patrol missions, security of demonstrations, and combat operations. In an official statement on Instagram, Brimob Corps Public Relations called Rimueng a high-certification multifunctional vehicle for security and rescue missions.
