Former Kabareskrim Calls Komnas HAM's Task Only To Monitor Affan Kurniawan's Case For Serious Or Light Human Rights Violations
JAKARTA - Former Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Susno Duadji, said that Komnas HAM's main task was to monitor the investigation carried out internally by the National Police regarding seven members of the Mobile Brigade of the Metro Jaya Police who ran over online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol), Affan Kurniawan, to death.
"If Komnas HAM does not interfere with the investigation process, because it is related to the professional code of ethics, the realm of ethics of the National Police. But because this is an incident in the field, Komnas HAM only observes the extent of violation, whether it is in light human rights or heavy human rights," said Susno Duadji, quoted from Kompas TV Live, Friday, August 29.
The presence of Komnas HAM in the examination of seven Brimob members was part of the commitment of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit who wanted to involve external parties in the investigation into Affan Kurniawan's death.
According to Susno, the commitment of the National Police Chief Sigit is part of the transparency of the case. It is possible that the external parties invited are Kompolnas, Commission III of the DPR or academics.
According to Susno, to get to the code of ethics trial, the seven Brimob members can proceed quickly. But for criminal matters, it depends on investigations and investigations to case filing.
"The code of ethics trial is fast, it's been in for about 2 weeks because it's internal. If the crime depends on the investigation, the filing," said Susno.
