Pramono Makes Sure Not To Withdraw KJP Jakarta Students Involved In Aug. 25 And 28 Demos
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government will not revoke the ownership of the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) of students in Jakarta who were involved in demonstrations on August 25 and 28 and led to clashes with the police.
Pramono emphasized that the distribution and revocation of the KJP is the right of the DKI Provincial Government. Even if the student is caught by the police, Pramono does not want to eliminate the right to receive his KJP.
"So the KJP's business is the full authority of the Jakarta government. In this case, we have no desire to revoke the KJP," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, August 29.
Pramono also asked all parties, from residents to officials to exercise restraint and keep the situation in Jakarta safe and conducive.
Even until this morning, the chaos spread to the East Jakarta area as a result of the death of Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) who was hit and run over by Brimob's car, on Jalan Pemberian Raya, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta on Thursday, August 28 evening.
Chaos this morning occurred on Jalan Otista Raya and Jalan Otista 3, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta. Meanwhile, during the day, online motorcycle taxi drivers again raided Mako Brimob in Kwitang, Central Jakarta.
"We hope that all parties can restrain themselves and prioritize resolution in a peaceful way. Jakarta is our common home, and we must keep it harmonious and orderly," said Pramono while visiting the Affan funeral home in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Friday, August 29.
Meanwhile, when he visited the funeral home this morning, Pramono also offered his condolences to Affan's father and family who cried in front of his body. Pramono tried to strengthen his family, but he also couldn't hold back his tears.
On the one hand, Pramono ensured that the DKI Provincial Government would provide full assistance to the relocation process to the funeral of the 20-year-old youth.
Pramono said that the full assistance from the DKI Provincial Government to take care of Affan's departure was given in order to reduce the burden on the family.
"We are committed to fully helping so that the family is not burdened. We will facilitate the restoration and burial as well as possible," he said.
