YouTube Music Moves Search Icon In Latest Interface View
JAKARTA YouTube Music, a music streaming platform under Google, is testing a new interface for the app. This change will affect the search button.
Previously, the search button was on the top right side of the screen, to be precise next to the user's profile photo. However, this interface change will place the search button into the navigation bar below.
This new design removes the bigger glass icon which was previously located at the top. Now, the search feature can be accessed more easily using one hand, although it requires two taps.
The placement of the search icon at the bottom will also replace the compass icon for the Explore tab. Although the icon is replaced, the page that appears after pressing the icon will remain the same as before.
The only change that can be seen, launching from 9to5google, is the addition of the 'Search for songs, artists, pods...' bar at the top. This page also features shortcuts for voice search and song search that are being played.

At the bottom, users can see various categories of music. This category includes new releases, charts, moods, genres, and podcasts. The search bar will also be followed by some familiar carousels.
Users can explore the latest albums and singles, popular podcast episodes, to trend music videos. When this feature is launched, there will be a prompt that explains how the feature works.
So far, changes to the search icon have only been found on Android phones and are still in a small number of users. It is not yet known when YouTube will expand its latest interface to more users, especially users on iOS.
