Bara Api Di Depan Mako Brimob Kwitang, Rakyat Tersulut Atas Tindakan Represif Aparat

JAKARTA - A mass wave of demonstrations originating from online motorcycle taxi drivers (Ojol) and other communities surrounded Mako Brimob Kwitang, Central Jakarta, Friday, August 29, 2025, afternoon.

Thousands of masses from various alliances raided Mako Brimob to demand justice for the death of their colleague Affan Kurniawan who was run over by a tactical vehicle (Rantis) by the authorities.

From VOI's observation in the Mako Brimob area, it is like a fire coal has sparked people's anxiety over the repressive actions of the authorities during the disbandment of the demonstration on Thursday night, August 28.

The people of the village are emotional and furious at the arbitrariness of the police in terms of securing demonstrations against demonstrators.

"Get it out, get it out, get it out (the perpetrator who hit the victim of Affan)," shouted the crowd.

Just so you know, Affan, an ojol driver, died because he was hit and run over by a Rantis Brimob car during a mass pursuit in the Jalan Pemberihan Raya area, Tanah Abang.

Worse, after crossing the victim, the Rantis car containing 7 Brimob members fled.

The incident responded to other masses and ojol drivers who were pursuing the Brimob Rantis car which led to chaos until Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesia Police Watch (IPW), Sugeng Teguh Santoso, said that the Brimob personnel had made a mistake in securing the DPR RI building as a vital object.

In fact, said Sugeng, the principle in securing vital objects is that the police apparatus and equipment are prepared to maintain the security of existing personnel and inhabit vital objects and buildings as vital objects of unlawful action.

"When vital objects are safe, security goals are achieved," said Sugeng, Friday, August 29, 2025.

So that the pursuit of the Brimob rantis to run over online motorcycle taxi drivers is a violation of the procedure.

"Because online motorcycle taxi drivers are not in a position to endanger police officers and vital objects are already protected. The pursuit of the protesters is a procedural error," he said.
