Ojol Driver Killed By Police Rantis Car, Ketum GEkira: Don't Condemn And Disrupt The Situation
JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Central Executive of the Greater Indonesia Christian Movement (PP GEKIRA), the Gerindra Party wing organization, Nikson Silalahi, said that all GEKIRA administrators and cadres mourned the death of an ojol driver who was run over by a police car during yesterday's demonstration.
"We agree that a democratic country must guarantee freedom of opinion, for that both the security and the parties who protest are equally responsible for not being trapped by irresponsible people who have an agenda to divide the children of the Indonesian nation," said Nikson in a written statement to the media in Jakarta, Friday (29/8/2025).
As the Gerindra Party wing organization, Nikson asked the National Police Chief to take appropriate and quick action according to the legal rules against the anarchists, including the police who caused the death of our brother, an online motorcycle taxi driver.
"The presence of the National Police Chief at the residence of the deceased's family and apologizing is appropriate but must be followed up with strict sanctions against the perpetrators. Including evaluating the performance of the police in dealing with demonstrations that will always exist in the future," he said.
