2025 BWF World Championships: Three Indonesian Representatives Left

JAKARTA Indonesia only has three representatives left at the 2025 BWF World Championships (BWF World Championships 2025) after the majority ran aground in the round of 16.

The series of matches in the last 16 of this prestigious event will be completed on Friday, August 29, 2025, at dawn WIB. Indonesia hopes that it will now live in the women's singles and sons' singles as well as women's doubles.

From the women's singles sector, the only representative to survive was Putri Kusuma Wardani. This 23-year-old badminton player qualified for the quarter-finals after defeating Tomoka Miyazaki.

The next daughter will meet Pusarla V Sindhu, a former world champion from India who qualified for the last eight after successfully repatriating the second seed from China, Wang Zhi Yi.

This is the fifth clash between Putri and Pusarla V Sindhu in a competitive arena. In the previous four meetings, their winning-loss record was still balanced 2-2.

From the men's singles, Indonesia's hope now rests with Jonatan Christie. Jonathan stopped Lee Cheuk Yiu from Hong Kong from meeting Kunlavut Vitidsarn (Thailand).

Kunlavut, who is the defending champion at the BWF World Championships, secured a ticket to the quarter-finals after a dramatic win in 76 minutes against Alwi Farhan.

One other representative left in the tournament is Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi. The couple then met Rin Iwanaga/Kie Nakanishi from Japan.

The quarter-final match at Adidas Arena, Paris, France, will take place on Friday, August 29, 2025. The match will start at 09.30 local time or 14.30 WIB.
