Pisa Vs AS Roma Prediction: Historic Match At Garibaldi Arena

JAKARTA - AS Roma will try to continue their positive start in Serie A for the 2025/2026 season by traveling to Pisa headquarters, Arena Garibaldi, Saturday night, August 30.

In the opening week, the Giallorossi successfully beat Bologna 1-0 through Wesley's goal as well as marked Gian Piero Gasperini's debut on the coach's bench with a win. Meanwhile, Pisa, who had just been promoted, also recorded quite a surprising result by holding Atalanta 1-1 in Bergamo.

After finishing three consecutive seasons in sixth place, Roma last season managed to climb to fifth in the final standings and almost qualify for the Champions League. The stability was largely thanks to Claudio Ranieri's cold hands who had brought them through 19 matches without losing before handing over the coaching chair to Gasperini.

Now, Gasperini is continuing that momentum. With five wins from seven pre-season games, Roma seem ready to compete at the top. If they are able to beat Pisa, they will open the season with two consecutive wins of something they have achieved just three times in the last ten years.

For Pisa, this match is very special. The last time they hosted Roma in Serie A happened in 1991, when they lost 0-1. After that, the Garibaldi Arena public had to wait 34 years to return to see their favorite club appear in the highest caste.

Pisa was promoted to Serie A this season, but the coach who brought them on, Pippo Inzaghi, chose to leave for Palermo. His position is now filled by Alberto Gilardino, who immediately gave a positive impression by detaining Atalanta in the first week.

Previously, Pisa also managed to qualify for the second half of the Coppa Italia after eliminating Cesena on penalties. Even so, Pisa's record meeting with Roma was very bad: just two wins from 14 meetings, with ten defeats.

In the Roma camp, young striker Evan Ferguson, who has just been recruited so far, is more prioritized than last season's top scorer, Artem Dovbyk. Ferguson is expected to start again on the front lines.

Leon Bailey, who had just arrived, was immediately on the list of injuries, accompanying Lorenzo Pellegrini in the treatment room. Zeki Celik returns from a ban on playing, while other new names may not appear because the transfer process is still ongoing.

On the Pisa side, they will soon arrive senior defender Raul Albiol and have brought in Dutch midfielder Calvin Stengs. But for this match, they are still without Tomas Esteves, Isak Vural, and Mateus Lusuardi who are injured. Two Danish strikers, Henrik Meister and Alexander Lind, are doubtful but still likely to be played alongside Matteo Tramoni and MBala Nzola upfront.

With the quality of a more experienced front line, plus positive trends from the Ranieri to Gasperini era, Roma is predicted to be too tough for Pisa. Garibaldi Arena's public support may make the hosts look excited, but the history and quality of the players clearly still side with the capital team.
