Gojek And Grab Both Admitted Their Online Motorcycle Taxi Driver Killed After Being Run Over By Brimob Vehicle
JAKARTA - Gojek and Grab both acknowledged that the online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver named Affan Kurniawan (20), who was killed by a Brimob tactical vehicle (rantis) from the Indonesian National Police (Polri) was their partner.
"For us, every partner is an important part of the extended ojol family, both the Grab partner currently being treated (a colleague of Moh Umar Amarduin) and the registered ojol partner with Grab who passed away (a colleague of the late Affan Kurniawan)," read an official statement from Grab Indonesia on Friday morning, August 29.
Meanwhile, PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) confirmed that Affan was one of its partners who died after being run over by a Brimob tactical vehicle on the evening of Thursday, August 28, 2025.
"Based on the results of the verification and internal investigation we conducted with relevant parties, we can confirm that Affan Kurniawan was a Gojek driver partner," GOTO wrote in a written statement.
Both Gojek and Grab expressed their deepest condolences for the passing of their partner Affan Kurniawan and wished the family and fellow ojol (motorcycle taxi) partners strength.
In their written statements, Gojek and Grab committed to continuing to support the victim's family and providing the best possible support to handle this tragic incident.
The two transportation platforms also urged all parties to work together to maintain a conducive and safe situation.
