Rupiah Potentially Strengthens Amid National Demonstrations
To note, citing Bloomberg, on Thursday, August 28, 2025, the rupiah spot exchange closed higher by 0.09 percent to the level of Rp. 16,353 per US dollar. Meanwhile, the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) exchange rate of Bank Indonesia (BI) closed slightly down 0.01 percent to a price level of Rp. 16,356 per US dollar.
Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong projects that the rupiah has the opportunity to strengthen against the US dollar.
"Rupiah has the potential to strengthen against the US dollar, which is still under pressure by the increasing hope of cutting interest rates by the Fed. However, strengthening may be limited by the development of heated demonstrations in Indonesia," he told VOI, Thursday, August 28.
Lukman projects that the movement of the rupiah on Friday, August 29, will move in the range of Rp. 16,250 per US dollar to Rp. 16,400 per US dollar.
