PSSI Chooses China Taipei As A Substitute For Kuwait: They Respect Our Invitation
PSSI officially announced that China Taipei will be the substitute opponent to be faced on FIFA Matchday after Kuwait chose to resign. Erick Thohir as PSSI General Chair (Ketum) also explained the reason.
He said, China Taipei is a country that is willing to accept the match offer even though it is submitted in a short period of time. For this willingness, PSSI did not forget to express gratitude.
"In the past, why did we want to play with Middle Eastern countries, yes, of course because it is for preparation. Because there is one other thing, we have to look for options."
"We competed with China Taipei, which happened to respect our invitation. In a short time, they will be present on 5 (September 2025)," said Erick Thohir in a statement quoted on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

On that occasion, Erick also mentioned about Kuwait, which announced that it would undergo a test match against Syria during the FIFA Matchday calendar.
"Just announced Kuwait against Syria. Yes, we can't do anything, right? Of course, if black is on white, yes, we already have an approval."
"That's why we will also report to the AFC. However, at a very short time, I am grateful that there are also countries that want to help us prepare," Erick explained.
Because of this, Erick asked for a ticket refund process. Those who have bought and are not willing to watch the match against China Taipei can apply for an cancellation.
