Barcelona Targets AS Monaco Vanderson As Additional Defense Lini Power

JAKARTA - US winger Monaco, Vanderson, is one of the options Barcelona considers, depending on the possibility of players being released before the transfer market closes.

The 24-year-old has been linked to Blaugarana several times, but the interest has not materialized due to the club's financial problems and the player's high valuation of around 25 million euros (approximately IDR 476.8 billion).

According to ESPN reports, Barcelona remains open to strengthening their defense following the departure of center-back Inigo Martinez to Al Nassr. Vanderson also emerged as one of the replacement candidates.

However, this deal is complicated because Barcelona first had to give up the departure of a big player.

In this regard, ESPN reported on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, that Chelsea had taken an approach to measure the availability of Fermin Lopez.

The Blaugrana is also open to listening to offers for Marc Casado, Ronald Araujo, and Andreas Christensen in a bid to comply with La Liga's Financial Fair Play rules.

Hansi Flick, who has publicly and personally emphasized that he just doesn't want to let go of two centre-backs that can be converted into right-backs, namely Jules Kunde and Eric Garcia.

Kounde has been a starter for the last two seasons. Meanwhile, Eric gave an outstanding impression last season as a full-back when Kounde was injured in the semifinals of the Champions League against Inter Milan.

Eric Garcia has also started this season at the full-back position as a starter for the team.

Kounde recently extended his contract with Barcelona until 2030. The club also hopes to sit down and negotiate with Eric after the summer transfer window closes.

Meanwhile, Vanderson will be a more offensive alternative, allowing Flick to also use Kounde and Eric in midfield.

The full-back has played for Monaco since January 2022 and is a regular player for the Brazilian National Team.

Bareloan has a good relationship with Monaco after securing Ansu Fati's loan.

Apart from the defense sector, there was a debate at Barcelona over a young Cameroonian striker, Etta Eyong, owned by Villarreal.

Eyong has been linked with Barcelona after a brilliant start to the season. However, there has been debate about his recruitment.

Some people at the club see him as a striker with potential for the future, while others believe that he does not yet have the profile needed to play for the Catalan team.

However, he is considered a market opportunity because his transfer clause is between 5 million euros and 10 million euros.
