Crypto Investors Should Be Careful! South Korea Blocks 32 Phishing Webs

JAKARTA – South Korea is tightening its cybersecurity. They are strengthening security systems to monitor phishing (fraudulent) websites that target cryptocurrency users.

According to Coindesk's report, South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT said there had been a spike in reports of phishing attempts asking cryptocurrency users to share their passwords so phishing users could access their accounts.

The South Korean government in cooperation with the national police has found as many as 32 phishing websites targeting cryptocurrency investors in recent months. They have also blocked all 32 phishing sites.

By 2020, the South Korean government has also found 41 phishing websites. They immediately cracked down on web phishing in anticipation of unexpected events that caused casualties from cryptocurrency users.

Lately, phishing attacks have become more sophisticated. The fraudsters sent emails that resembled emails from formal companies. They target cryptocurrency investors in cyberspace.

The phishing perpetrators took advantage of the mistakes of people who clicked on links that could compromise their security. One of the phishing websites is "www.bithnub.com".

The site is designed to have a domain name similar to a cryptocurrency trading exchange in South Korea called Bithumb, "www.bithumb.com".

Fortunately, the phishing web was followed up by the South Korean National Police in early March. Previously, the police were also investigating 21 cases of fraud so that the participants could access their crypto accounts.

This phishing action harms cryptocurrency investors. The Korean government is rapidly strengthening security systems and targeting the perpetrators of such phishing.
