Typhoon Of Kajiki Hits Thailand, 5 People Died, 7 Missing

JAKARTA - Five people were killed and seven people declared missing after heavy rains and landslides caused by tropical storms Kajiki hit northern Thailand.

Kajiki hit the mainland as a typhoon in Vietnam earlier this week, killing seven people, submerging more than 10,000 houses and offices and 86 hectares of rice land and commercial plants.

In Thailand, floods and landslides hit 12 provinces in the north and northeastern, includingIDlock Mai,ungori Rai, and Mae Hong Son, impacting more than 6,300 people and 1,800 households.

As reported by Reuters, the national disaster agency said four people inung Mai died as a result of a landslide, and another person drowned in Mae Hong Son.

As many as 15 other people were injured in Tokyo Mai, with five others buried by landslides and two swept away by the flood.

On Thursday, August 28, floods continued in eight provinces, of which nearly 6,000 people in 1,600 households were still affected, according to the ministry.

The crash marked the second time this year that northern Thailand was hit by the remnants of a typhoon, after Wutip in June swept from southern China.
