Prabowo: Regent's Training In Army Camp, Not In Five Star Hotel

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto stated that training for new regents should be conducted not in five-star hotels, but rather in military camps to foster a strong leadership mindset.

"Train the regents in military camps. If necessary, don't train them in five-star hotels," he said during a speech at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 in Tangerang, Thursday, August 28, as reported by ANTARA.

The Head of State stated that approximately 80 percent of regents in Indonesia are new and therefore need to learn quickly how to run the government.

Prabowo also directed the regents not to hesitate to seek assistance and guidance from the central government, including the Minister of Home Affairs, to address community issues.

The President is willing to allocate government funds to help implement regional head training programs.

Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian reported that approximately 80 percent of regional heads elected in the last regional elections were new faces without leadership experience, thus requiring direct guidance from President Prabowo Subianto.

Of the 548 regional heads inaugurated by February 2025, only 20 percent had experience serving at the regional executive level.
