Pramono: Jakarta Cannot Advance Alone, Buffer City Must Participate In Cleaning Up
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung asked the city-city government in the Jabodetabek buffer zone to accelerate the development of urban planning in line with Jakarta.
This was conveyed by Pramono in the kick off of the Interministerial Committee/Non-Ministry (PAK) for the Preparation of the Draft Presidential Regulation on the Main Plan for the Development of the Jakarta Agglomeration Area (RIPKA) at the Office of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday, August 28.
I want cities around Jakarta to develop. Jakarta cannot progress alone. If Jakarta progresses, the buffer cities must also move forward together," said Pramono.
Pramono highlighted the low use of public transportation in Jabodetabek even though the level of transportation connectivity in Jakarta has reached more than 91 percent.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has also operated six Transjabodetabek routes, namely Alam Sutera-Blok M, PIK2-Blok M, Bogor-Blok M, Sawangan-Lebak Bulus, Vida Bekasi-Cawang, and Bekasi-Dukuh Atas.
However, the number of people who regularly use public transportation is still below 24 percent.
Therefore, Pramono emphasized the need for equitable development in agglomeration areas, not only in Jakarta, to support connectivity in public transportation modes.
"Therefore, we need to force the public to switch to public transportation so that Jakarta's face will be better," he said.
In addition to transportation, Pramono emphasized the importance of air, water and waste management so that the growth of cities in Jabodetabek runs continuously.
"Jakarta is ready to do this seriously. Every day there are 4.4 million people who go in and out of Jakarta, plus almost 11 million people who live in this city. If this is not regulated properly, it could be a big problem in the future," he explained.
Pramono also appreciated the steps taken by the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas in drafting RIPKA. According to him, this plan will have a big impact, not only for agglomeration areas, but also on the national economy.
