2025 BWF World Championships: Alwi Will Be Tested As Defending Champion
JAKARTA Men's singles badminton player Alwi Farhan qualified for the round of 16 of the 2025 World Championships (BWF World Championships 2025). He will also be tested by defending champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
Alwi extended his journey in the tournament after defeating seed Lin Chun Yi in two straight games 21-17 and 22-20 on Thursday, August 28, 2025, dawn WIB.
"Alhamdullilah, I am very grateful that today's match can win after preparing a strategy and focus from morning with the coach. Of course, it cannot be separated from the support of the coach and God," said Alwi after the match.
This result made Alwi avenge his defeat against China Taipei's singles in their first competitive clash in the second round of the Australian Open last year.

At that time, Alwi was on the verge of victory, but finally lost in the rubber game. He led with a score of 20-16 in the third game, but instead got a comeback.
"So, here I really want to try to win the match. Thank God, the results were then able to follow," said the 2023 junior world champion.
The clash against Kunlavut in the round of 16 will be their second competitive meeting after meeting in the first round of the 2025 China Open in July.
In that match, Alwi managed to force Kunlavut to undergo a rubber game. He won in the first game easily, but lost in the next two games.
Indonesia has a total of nine representatives in the round of 16 of the 2025 World Championships. From the men's singles, Alwi got a ticket with Jonatan Christie.
