Government Prepares 3 Kg Elpiji Buyer Verification System Starting Next Year
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is preparing a system to verify data on 3 kilograms of LPG (kg) buyers which will take effect next year (2026).
Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (Wamen ESDM) Yuliot Tanjung said that so far the purchase of 3 kg LPG is only limited to collecting photocopies of ID cards, so they are not recorded in the system.
"We will build the system. That system already exists, but how can it be faster, so that it doesn't happen again and again, everyone submits a copy of their ID card," said Yuliot as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 27.
This old pattern, said Yuliot, makes it difficult for the government to ensure that subsidized LPG is right on target, even though this 3 kg gas is intended for poor households, micro businesses, fishermen and farmers.
Furthermore, the system will later be adjusted to the domicile of beneficiaries, so that the data is more accurate.
"So the Minister's (Bahlil Lahadalia) meant that at that time it was in accordance with the KTP, not repeatedly. It must be in accordance with the domicile of the people concerned," he also said.
Previously, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia planned to set one price for LPG.
