Foreign Minister Sugiono And Indonesian Defense Minister Leads Indonesia-Australia 2+2 Meeting
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, arrived in Canberra, Australia on Wednesday to attend the "the Ninth Australia" Indonesia Foreign and Defense Ministers " 2+2 Meeting".
The main diplomats' meeting and chief defense of the two countries are scheduled to take place at the Australian Parliament House on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
"Together with the Indonesian Minister of Defense, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Foreign Minister Sugiono will lead the Indonesian delegation at the meeting," wrote the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement, Wednesday, August 28.
Meanwhile, the Australian delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Richard Marles and Minister of Foreign Affairs Penny Wong.
At the 9th event in Canberra this time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Defense Minister-Australia will discuss strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of defense and maritime as well as geostrategic discussions on the increasingly dynamic situation of regional and global security, including one of the Palestinian issues.
Both sides hope that there will be several concrete cooperation programs agreed as part of the delivery of tomorrow's meeting.
It is known that the 2+2 Indonesia-Australia Meeting was a meeting of the level of the Minister of Foreign Affairs-Minister of Defense of the two countries which was initiated in 2011.
The meeting focused on strengthening the Indonesia-Australia partnership, especially strengthening bilateral and regional defense and security cooperation.

In addition to holding a 2+2 meeting, the Foreign Minister and the Indonesian Minister of Defense will also make an honorary visit to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Foreign Minister Sugiono is also planned to hold a separate meeting with Foreign Minister Penny Wong to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Australia, including economic, trade and investment cooperation.
