Estimated 1.2 Million People Out Of Jakarta, When Returning Home Must Undergo A Layered Swab Test

JAKARTA - The Police Chief of Metro Jaya said about 1.2 million Jakartans chose to stay out of the capital amid the ban on homecoming. They left for their hometowns before implementing the sealing scheme.

"It is estimated that the number of Jakartans coming out of Jakarta is about 1.2 million", Irjen Fadil told reporters on Tuesday, May 11.

Based on the data, those who homecoming use a variety of common modes of transportation. In addition, most of them also use private vehicles.

"Based on the results of the evaluation of the number of travelers who by land, by train and air before the homecoming ban took effect means before May 6 and the community that remains reckless homecoming during the homecoming ban", said Fadil.

Therefore, Jakarta Metro Police, Jakarta Military Command, and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta held a meeting to deal with the backflow. Tightening of the security scheme will also be enforced at some point.

"In coordination meeting, there are several points that we must work on and agree such as carrying out collaboration with BNPB (National Agency for Disaster Management), and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta to strengthen airports, stations, ports and rest areas that become facilities and infrastructure again after the implementation of homecoming", said Fadil.

To deal with the backflow, continued Fadil, there will be a new scheme implemented. People who want to enter Jakarta must go through a layered swab test.

"We will carry out a layered swab strategy starting from the start we will coordinate with the Regional Police and Military Command in the region that is the starting point of the number of travelers such as West Java, Central Java and East Java so that returning travelers must have antigen swab letter or PCR", fadil said.

"Regional Police and Military Command will prepare antigen swabs and will be distributed to all Police Station, as well as all Regional Military Command", he added.
