Sharpening Tactical Sniper Skills, Indonesian Navy and RTMC Soldiers Undergo Military Training in Thailand
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps (TNI AL), through its Amphibious Reconnaissance Special Forces (Taifib), is strengthening its personnel's combat capabilities by participating in joint training with Thailand's Royal Thai Marines Corps (RTMC).
The training in Chonburi, Thailand, on Monday this week, is part of the Sea Garuda 22B-25 Joint Exercise (Latma).
The Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service, Rear Admiral Tunggul, explained that Taifib personnel and the Thai special forces conducted tactical sniper and tactical scuba diving training.
Tunggul said this training requires soldiers to master weapons and disable enemies from long range using sniper rifles, as well as infiltrate enemy territory using tactical diving techniques.
"In addition to these two combat methods, Taifib also trains in a series of other exercises, including amphibious operations, tactical drones, obstacle courses, and team combat," Tunggul said in an official TNI AL press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara.
Tunggul continued, explaining that joint exercises don't just take place on land. The Indonesian Navy also conducts combat exercises at sea, deploying the KRI Raden Eddy Martadinata-331 (KRI REM-331) to conduct combat maneuvers with Thai warships.
Tunggul hopes that these exercises will further enhance the combat capabilities of the Indonesian Navy, thereby strengthening the nation's defenses.
He also hopes that these joint exercises will strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Thailand.
