Chukwuemeka Joins Dortmund With Permanent Status

JAKARTA - Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has joined Borussia Dortmund on permanent status until June 2030.

Chukwumeka played for the German club on loan last season and has now signed a permanent contract.

The 21-year-old, who has represented the England National Team at levels U-18, U-18, U-19, and U-20, played 17 times for Dortmund in the 2024/2025 season and scored one goal.

"I feel very happy now being an integral part of BVB. I have known this club, its coaches, my teammates and supporters over the past few months."

"Aaya is happy Borussia Dortmund is now my new home. I will give everything to make sure we achieve our goal as a team," Chukwuemeka said.

Meanwhile, Dortmund has also extended the contract for head coach Niko Kovac until June 2027.

Kovac joined the Bundesliga team in January 2025, bringing them to the Champions League quarter-finals and lifting the team from 11th place to fourth place in the Bundesliga 2024/2025.

"We've made a lot of progress together in the last six months to get Borussia Dortmund back on track."

"We feel a high level of trust in us as coaches. We feel we can achieve something special here with the clubs and supporters."

"The conversations we've had over the past few weeks have strengthened my belief that, based on our achievements so far, we can achieve long-term success at this club," Kovac said.
