Compact Rice Prices Rise In 200 Regions, Types Of Medium Tembus To IDR 50,000 Per Kg

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) revealed that the increase in rice prices, both medium and premium, occurred in 200 districts/cities throughout Indonesia.

In fact, the highest type of medium price reaches IDR 50,000 per kilogram (kg). Meanwhile, the highest premium type of rice was recorded to have penetrated the level of IDR 60,000 per kg.

"There are 200 regencies and cities that have experienced an increase in rice prices," said Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti in an inflation meeting broadcast on the Ministry of Home Affairs' YouTube, quoted Tuesday, August 26.

Winley, his nickname, said that for the current price of rice in zone 1, the medium type is Rp. 14,000 per kg above the highest retail price (HET). The HET set by the government is Rp. 12,500 per kg.

Regencies/Cities that have the highest average medium rice price in zone 1 are East Bolaang Mongondow Regency IDR 17,952 per kg. Then followed by Wakatobi IDR 17,884 per kg.

"Premium rice until the third week of August 2025 rose 0.83 percent compared to July 2025 or nationally averaged touch IDR 15,437 per kg," said Winny.

Winley revealed that the highest areas experienced an increase in premium rice prices in Wakatobi and Talaud Islands, touching the level above Rp. 19,000 per kg.

Meanwhile, in zone 2, continued Winley, the average medium rice price rose by 1.40 percent compared to July 2025 and touched IDR 14,872 per kg.

Meanwhile, in zone 3, until the third week of August, the price of medium rice rose 1.09 percent compared to July 2025, which averaged IDR 18,899 per kg or above HET.

Furthermore, Winly added, the highest increase was in Intan Jaya, Puncak Jaya, Bintang Mountains, where the price of rice reached more than IDR 40,000.

"In general, the price of premium rice in zone 3 to the third week of August 2025 rose 0.64 percent compared to July 2025 and touched IDR 20,709 per kg. The highest in Intan Jaya Regency which touched IDR 60,000 per kg," said Winny.
