BTN Complains That The KPR Interest Rate Is Still Very Low, Minister Of PKP: We Discuss It Utuhly

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) opened his voice regarding complaints from PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BBTN) or BTN which stated that currently, the interest rate for Housing Financing Liquidity Facilities (FLPP) on Home Ownership Loans (KPR) is still very low.

President Director of BTN Nixon LP Napitupulu explained that currently the FLPP interest rate is only 5 percent.

"We have also conveyed this to the government and we heard that it is in the process of being adjusted, namely the FLPP interest rate which we think today is still very low, which is 5 percent," Nixon said at the Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, quoted Friday, August 22.

He also proposed an FLPP interest rate of between 6-7 percent with a record addition of two to five years of credit tenors.

Thus, he considered, the amount of FLPP installments could be reduced by around Rp. 30,000 per month.

Ara did not deny that BTN is the bank that distributes the most subsidized houses at this time. However, according to him, the proposed increase in FLPP interest rates must be discussed first.

"BTN builds the most subsidized houses, yes, we will discuss (later)," said Ara in response to VOI's question when met at the BPS office, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 26.

In fact, Ara questioned the urgency of increasing the FLPP KPR interest rate in times like this. Moreover, the FLPP KPR connoisseur is a low-income society (MBR).

"We will discuss it in its entirety. In a situation like now, is it appropriate, is it wise to raise interest rates for MBR," he said.

Furthermore, said Ara, his party will conduct in-depth discussions with BTN and immediately look for other alternatives.

"We discussed it in-depth. Is there another alternative? Right, that's it. So, we discussed it," he concluded.
