Colliding With A Motorcyclist And A Protester, White Honda Brio Damaged By Mob In Pejompongan

JAKARTA - A woman driving a white Honda Brio Satya with license plate number B 1465 HKK was attacked by a mob while driving on Pejompongan Raya Street, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta, on Monday afternoon, August 25, 2025.

All of the car's windows were shattered after being hit with pieces of wood and stones by a group of people in the area.

The crowd was furious with the car driver because she had previously hit several motorcycles and protesters traveling in the same direction and in front of her car.

In the most fatal incident, a motorcyclist was struck from behind by the white Honda Brio, throwing the motorcyclist off the road.

The victim's motorcycle was dragged on the hood for 50 meters. The car continued to flee after hitting several motorcyclists.

Fortunately, the car was brought to a stop after the crowd blocked it and smashed the windshield. Other members of the crowd were also seen throwing stones at the woman's vehicle.

The white Honda Brio was stopped and the mob attacked it, destroying it.

Although the car was damaged, the female driver was rescued by local residents. The driver also suffered trauma.

According to eyewitness accounts, the driver allegedly panicked while crossing the railway crossing. As the crowd grew and the train was about to pass, the driver attempted to accelerate.

"The train passed, and a white car appeared. Shortly after, the white car honked loudly, drawing the crowd's attention," said Marshal, an eyewitness to the incident, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Marshal explained that on Monday afternoon, the Pejompongan Raya area was filled with a sea of ​​protesters. Furthermore, several motorcycles ridden by men were in front of the car.

"There was a man in the middle of the road, and he (the Brio driver) was hit, and he (the car driver) fled. The students chased him," he said.

The driver's panic intensified when a train passed at the same time.

"He grazed a man wearing a mask, the white car sped away, and was attacked by students. The car was completely destroyed," he said.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car, whose identity has not been disclosed, sought help from local residents. His car had already been destroyed by the mob.

"The driver was a woman, panicked, and asked for help from residents," he said.

The Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metro Police, First Inspector Ruslan, stated that his office had not received any reports of casualties related to the car damage in Pejompongan.

"Regarding the car, there have been no reports (from victims)," he said briefly when contacted by VOI on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Previously, it was reported that joint Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) officers began pushing back the protesters, which led to rioting in the area of ​​the Indonesian Parliament Building on Monday, August 25, 2025, afternoon.

According to VOI's monitoring at the scene, at around 4:30 p.m. WIB, officers successfully pushed back the crowd under the Pejompongan flyover.

The crowd continued to be pushed toward Bendungan Hilir by joint security forces with the aid of tear gas. Officers managed to gain control of the area under the Pejompongan Flyover, which had previously been filled with thousands of people.

"The crowd is getting bigger, sir," said a police officer.

The pushed crowd then split off toward Slipi, Palmerah, and Bendungan Hilir, Tanah Abang.
