The Ministry Of MSMEs Supports The Laundry Service Industry As A Strategic Service Service

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) supports the laundry service industry to increase competitiveness so that it can become one of the strategic service fields and make a significant contribution to the national economy.

Deputy for Medium Business at the Ministry of MSMEs Temmy Satya Permana specifically advised the Indonesian Laundry Association (Asli) to focus more on empowering the lower middle class segment to strengthen the people's economic foundations.

"Currently ASLI has 21 active DPDs spread across the province, with more than 1,800 official members joined," said Temmy, quoted on Tuesday, August 26.

Temmy said that currently the laundry industry, which is part of the ASLI network, has absorbed around 34,000 workers, both formal and informal.

"This proves that the business or laundry industry is not just a side business, but an important part of the national MSME ecosystem," he said.

This sector growth, said Temmy continued, is also shown by an average membership increase of 20 percent every year. This reflects the attractiveness, trust, and business prospects of laundry as a modern service sector.

"With this development, the laundry industry not only opens opportunities and opportunities, but also builds a competitive service ecosystem," he said.

According to Temmy, currently Indonesian laundry entrepreneurs face various challenges such as standardization of services and competence, waste management, access to inclusive financing and KUR, and digitization of services to increase customer efficiency and satisfaction.

"Through programs such as the Laundry Business School (SBL) I see a great spirit to raise this business to be more professional, competitive, and able to answer global challenges," he said.

The Ministry of MSMEs, said Temmy, is ready to synergize with ASLI in supporting access to financing through the unsecured KUR scheme for MSME entrepreneurs, encouraging the management of laundry waste more environmentally friendly through the Waste Processing Unit together, and integrating laundry digitization into the national MSME digital ecosystem.

"This is in line with the spirit of the Job Creation Law and the Law on MSMEs, where the government has an obligation to continue to provide convenience, protection, and empowerment for MSMEs," he said.
