Luhut Reveals The Three Main Focuses Of Government Digital Transformation

JAKARTA - Special Advisor to the President for Digitalization and Government Technology as well as Chairman of the National Economic Council Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed that there are three main use cases that are the focus of the committee to accelerate the government's digital transformation.

He said that this committee had held the inaugural meeting and this meeting was a follow-up to Presidential Regulation Number 83 of 2025, as well as marking the start of concrete steps to strengthen Indonesia's foundation towards an inclusive, efficient, transparent, and sovereign digital government.

Luhut conveyed that this step is a commitment to leave the sectoral ego and work together for the success of national digital transformation.

Meanwhile, the mandate to accelerate the digital transformation of government was first given by the President about seven months ago and following up on the directive, a small team was formed to explore digitalization strategies that can be implemented.

Luhut conveyed that the three main use cases that are the focus, namely digitizing social assistance programs, digitizing business licensing, and increasing the integration of the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) component.

"Banyuwangi will become a pilot laboratory (pilot project) for the application of digital government technology in social assistance programs," he said in his statement, Tuesday, August 26.

Luhut said that this system is designed to increase the accuracy of distribution by reducing inclusion and exclusion errors, strengthening transparency and accountability, and enabling people to verify digital identities independently through the application.

He added that the backend process will run automatically by verifying cross-institutional data, starting from BPJS Kesehatan, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, BI'Himbara, ATR/BPN, to Samsat.

"This social assistance digitization is not only a matter of transparency, but will also allow the government to make significant budget savings because the distribution of aid is much more targeted," said Luhut.

In its implementation, he conveyed the principle of prudence in data management emphasized as the foundation so that the nation's data remains in the country and is managed safely.

Luhut said that the committee will also hold routine meetings every month to ensure all programs run according to plan and have a real impact.

"We have hung many dreams from accelerating the digital transformation of this government. With cross-ministerial and institutional cooperation and the use of the latest technology, we want to present a more transparent, inclusive, and global competitive government," he said.

Luhut added that the Kickoff meeting marked the start of a new chapter of digitizing the Indonesian government an important step towards more effective, efficient, and just public services.
