Amid The Rise Of AI, BSSN Calls Phishing Still Dominating Cyber Attacks
JAKARTA - Along with the development of increasingly massive artificial intelligence (AI) in the world, including Indonesia, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) does not see a shift in the trend of cyber attacks in the country.
Deputy for Cyber Security and Economic Password of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), Slamet Aji Pamungkas, emphasized that phishing is still one of the most dominant forms of cyber attacks in Indonesia.
"So what happened yesterday is still there, phishing is one of the most. Because phishing is one of the easiest," said Slamet on the sidelines of the ITSEC Security Summit 2025 event on Tuesday, August 26.
He explained that cyber attacks can be divided into two types, namely technical and social attacks. Technical attacks include ransomware, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, and other forms of system disruptions.
Meanwhile, social attacks focus more on people's manipulation, such as spreading false information or divisive content. So according to him, the presence of AI actually exacerbated this.
"With AI it is increasingly difficult for us to distinguish which ones are fake news, which ones are true news," added Slamet.

Nah, untuk menghadapi persoalan tersebut, Slamet menyebutkan bahwa BSSN bersama Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika (Kominfo) telah menyediakan fasilitas pengecekan fakta bagi masyarakat.
"Actually, both at BSSN and Komdigi provide one, a kind of facilitation for the community to check whether the news is true or not," he said.
Thus, he emphasized the importance of public vigilance and collaboration between government, industry, and society in building resilience in facing the increasingly complex landscape of cyber threats.
