Claims To Have 100 Types Of Flora-Fauna, Pramono Wants Jakarta To Become A Biodiversity Research Laboratory
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung claims Jakarta has considerable biodiversity. He said it has more than 100 types of flora and fauna that are the wealth of biodiversity.
Therefore, Pramono opened a space for cooperation with researchers and academics. This was revealed by Pramono in the 18th Congress of the Indonesian Biology Society (PBI) and the International Conference on Biodiversity and Future Biology (ICo-BioFUB) 2025.
"Jakarta has more than 100 types of biodiversity, both flora and fauna. We are open when Jakarta is used as a biodiversity research laboratory. The DKI Provincial Government is ready to support research cooperation between universities and local governments," said Pramono at the National University, South Jakarta, Tuesday, August 26.
In this international-scale forum, Pramono emphasized the importance of the issue of biodiversity (biodiversity) which is now the world's concern. Thus, he fully supports Jakarta if it can be used as a biodiversity research laboratory.
"Jakarta is grateful to have the Thousand Islands and biodiversity that is still well maintained. Even at Pantai Indah Kapuk, I have asked the City Parks and Forest Service together with the Environment Agency to routinely involve students in planting mangroves as part of conservation efforts," he explained.
Furthermore, Pramono added, the success of maintaining the ecosystem will strengthen climate resilience, improve public health, and ensure the quality of life for citizens.
"Jakarta is organizing itself from a global city that is currently ranked 74th out of 156 cities, with a target of entering the top 50. One of the keys is environmental transformation. Apart from economic, social and cultural issues, environmental problems must be answered with real changes, and I am committed to presenting the change," explained Pramono.
This international congress was held in collaboration with the Indonesian Biological Association (PBI) with the Bachelor and Graduate Biological Program, Faculty of Biology and Agriculture at the National University. The event was attended by academics, researchers, policymakers, and industrial practitioners from Indonesia, Malaysia, to Germany.
