DPR Plenary Agrees To Hajj And Umrah Law, BPH Turns Into Ministry Of Hajj

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives approved the revision of the Hajj and Umrah Law into law at the DPR Plenary Meeting today. One of the points is related to the change of the Hajj Organizing Body (BPH) to the Ministry of Hajj.

The approval was taken in the discussion of the decision on the Bill on the Third Amendment to Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah which was held at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Tuesday, August 26.

Initially, the Chairman of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Marwan Dasopang, submitted a report to all meeting participants, a number of substance points in order to strengthen the implementation of the pilgrimage and Umrah.

"It is time for us to ask for approval from the factions whether the draft law (RUU) regarding the third amendment to Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning Hajj and Umrah Organizers can be approved to be ratified into law," asked Cucun.

"Agreed," replied the court participant.

After that, the Minister of Law Supratman Andi Atas conveyed the government's view and expressed the approval of the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

"The President has agreed to amend the Draft Law on the Third Amendment to Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah into Law," Supratman said.
