Slipi Traffic Police Post Vandalized and Burned by DPR RI Protestors
JAKARTA - The Slipi Traffic Police Post (Pospol Lantas) in West Jakarta was vandalized and burned by a crowd demonstrating against the dissolution of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Monday evening, August 25, 2025.
The crowd had previously only burned security force tents located nearby after being pushed back by joint officers from under the Pejompongan flyover in Central Jakarta.
The crowd's frustration flared again after security forces fired tear gas again. The normal atmosphere turned tense in the Slipi area late Monday night.
The crowd vandalized public facilities belonging to the police under the Slipi toll road in West Jakarta. The Slipi Traffic Police Post became the target of the mob's rampage, vandalizing them.
The crowd became increasingly uncontrollable, and the joint officers were overwhelmed by the number of school student protesters.
In addition to being vandalized and burned, the walls of the Traffic Police Post also became a site for vandalism. One of the signs posted on the wall of the Traffic Police Post was "ACAB," sprayed with black spray paint.
According to a police source, the Slipi Traffic Police Post was not set on fire, but merely vandalized by a mob.
"(The police post) was only vandalized. The mob attempted to do something inside, but it didn't spread. It was only inside," he told VOI on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Director of Traffic Police for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Komarudin, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the fire at the Slipi Traffic Police Post in West Jakarta.
