Rupiah Weakens to US Dollar as Trump Fires Fed Governor Lisa Cook
JAKARTA - The Rupiah exchange rate on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, has the potential to weaken against the United States (US) dollar.
Citing Bloomberg, on Monday, August 25, 2025, the spot Rupiah closed 0.57 percent stronger at IDR 16,259 per US dollar.
Meanwhile, the Rupiah exchange rate, according to Bank Indonesia's (BI) Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor), closed 0.52 percent higher at IDR 16,255 per US dollar.
Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong stated that the Rupiah is expected to weaken against the US dollar.
"The Rupiah is expected to weaken against the strengthening/volatile US dollar following news that Trump fired board of governors member Lisa D. Cook," he told VOI on Tuesday, August 26.
Lukman stated that the Rupiah's movement on Tuesday, August 26, is projected to move in the range of IDR 16,200 to IDR 16,350 per US dollar.
As is known, United States (US) President Donald Trump on Monday, August 25, ordered the dismissal of Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, citing alleged false statements related to a mortgage agreement involving her.
