Flying Rocks on Slipi Flyover, TNI Use Shields to Keep Riot Students Away
JAKARTA - Clashes continued on the Slipi Flyover in Jakarta between protesters and joint security forces on Monday afternoon, August 25th.
Rocks were seen flying toward the officers from the crowd, many of whom were wearing school pants. The throwing was met with tear gas from the police.
Across the area, burned tires by the protesters were still burning.
A Brimob vehicle, continuing to push them back, then entered the Slipi Flyover.
Several TNI soldiers in camouflage uniforms, wielding shields and batons, were seen approaching the crowd to prevent them from approaching the House of Representatives (DPR) building.
Previously, chaos broke out when demonstrators calling themselves the "Indonesian People's Revolution" held a demonstration in front of the DPR building in Jakarta on Monday afternoon, August 25th.
The joint security forces pushed back the demonstrators, breaking up the crowd at several points.
In addition to the crowd at the Slipi Flyover, demonstrators were pushed back in Slipi towards Palmerah Station and along Pejompongan Street.
Meanwhile, the demonstration in front of the DPR building remained peaceful and moved to the Pancasila Gate. The orator was on top of the car, continuing to voice the points of today's mass action.
