LABUAN BAJO - The Sikka Police, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), have arrested the perpetrator of an assault and stabbing that resulted in the death of a guest with the initials AAM (25) in Sikka Regency.
"The perpetrator, identified as ANM (25), has been detained by the Sikka Police Criminal Investigation Team," said First Inspector Leonardus Tunga, Head of Public Information for the Sikka Police Public Relations Section, when contacted by Antara from Labuan Bajo on Monday, August 25.
The bloody incident occurred at a wedding party in Kota Baru Village, Alok District, early Saturday morning.
The perpetrator, ANM, reportedly assaulted three guests with a knife, resulting in one death and two others suffering serious injuries.
According to police, the incident began when the perpetrator and the victim, who did not know each other, were dancing with other guests. The perpetrator reportedly danced in a rough manner until the victim's friend reprimanded him. The reprimand enraged the perpetrator, who struck, then pulled out a knife and stabbed three people at once.
"Two of the victims, who were seriously injured, are still being treated in the hospital," said Leonardus.
Police acted quickly after receiving the report and immediately apprehended the perpetrator. "The perpetrator is currently being questioned to uncover the motive and the possibility of other perpetrators," he added.
