Irit BBM, Geely Galaxy M9 PHEV Tembus 40,000 Ordering Units In 24 Hours
JAKARTA China is the largest automotive market in the world. Even according to reports from McKinsey or BloombergNEF, China is predicted to remain dominant until 2030, especially in EVs (electric vehicles), with the potential of reaching 40 million units of annual sales.
Interestingly, in recent years local brands have sometimes set their own sales records. The latest is Geely with the Galaxy M9 PHEV.
Geely's latest flagship SUV managed to pocket more than 40,000 orders in just 24 hours since the bookings opened on August 24.
Present in six variants, reported CarNewsChina, Monday, August 25, the Galaxy M9 is offered at a very competitive price, ranging from 193,800 yuan (around Rp440 million) to 258,800 yuan (around Rp587 million). This large car is intended for modern families looking for combinations between luxury, cutting-edge technology, and long cruising capabilities.
In terms of design, the Galaxy M9 is a production version of the Galaxy Starship concept which was previously exhibited at the Beijing Auto Show 2024. It looks even more futuristic with the iconic LED light "Briliant Galaxy" as well as the LiDAR sensor on the roof to support the autonomous feature. With a length of 5,205 mm and a width of almost 2 meters, the M9 is only 4 mm shorter than the Mercedes-Benz GLS. Its cabin space is also very relieved by its efficiency of up to 88.3 percent, while the dual-chamber air suspension that can be arranged as high as 95 mm promises driving comfort in various conditions.

Entering the cabin, a luxurious feel is felt immediately. The 2+2+2 seat configuration makes all passengers get maximum comfort. The heating feature is available in all seats, plus ventilation and massage for the first and second rows. The rear passengers are also spoiled with a 3.3-inch 3K resolution monitor, folding table, and a 9.1-liter mini refrigerator. Not to forget the Flyme Sound audio system with 27 speakers that present premium class sound quality.
In the cockpit, the driver is presented with a 12.66-inch LCD instrument panel, HUD, and a 30-inch giant touch screen that extends to the front passenger side. All are connected to the Flyme Auto 2 system equipped with an AI assistant called "Eva" to control navigation, entertainment, to the cabin features through touch or voice commands.
Machine performance is no less stunning. The Galaxy M9 carries an EM-P Hybrid 2.0 system with a combination of 1.5 liters of turbo gasoline and three electric motors. As a result, the combined power reaches 870 hp with torques of up to 1,165 Nm. Acceleration of 0-100 km/hour can be achieved in just 4.5 seconds, equivalent to a world-class sports car.
For cruising power, there are two battery options: 18.4 kWh with an electric range of 100 km or 41.5 kWh with a range of up to 210 km. Even when the battery runs out, the fuel consumption is only 4.8 liters per 100 km is very efficient for large SUVs.
