Indonesia Ready To Send More Nurses To Japan, Karding Ensures Worker Protection
JAKARTA - Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Minister (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding directly observed the condition of Indonesian workers in the health worker sector in Japan during a working visit to the Elizabeth Elderly Hospital in Tokyo, today.
"Our visit here is to find out more closely about the circumstances and ways of working in a hospital like Elizabeth," Karding said in a press release received in Jakarta, Sunday, August 24. .
Japan is known to need large numbers of health workers to support care services for the elderly and hospitals. In response to this, Karding emphasized that Indonesia is ready to meet demand by sending competent and international standard nurses.
"For that, we have to know more closely about the circumstances, conditions, ways of working, and local culture in Japan," he said.
In addition to ensuring the readiness of the workforce, Karding emphasized the importance of protecting Indonesian workers in Japan so that they are comfortable and happy. The Indonesian government, he said, also strengthens nursing training through vocational programs and Migrant Class so that health workers are ready to compete in the global market.
"God willing, we will prepare the best nurses. Hopefully Elizabeth Hospital will continue to open up opportunities for nurses from Indonesia," he said.
During the visit, Karding also socialized a subsidized housing program for Indonesian migrant workers (PMI). "There are subsidized housing facilities from the government. Friends can register, be paid in installments at affordable prices and can be built anywhere, not necessarily in Jakarta," he said.
