Bulog And Red And White Cooperatives Strengthen National Food Distribution Through Strategic Partnerships

JAKARTA - Perum Bulog shows that it has formed a strategic partnership with the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDKMP) in various regions.

Bulog Business Director Febby Novita said that this synergy is not just a logistical cooperation, but part of the people's economic movement that places cooperatives at the forefront of national food distribution.

He conveyed that one concrete example of this synergy occurred in Tarakan, North Kalimantan, where Bulog Tarakan Branch actively supports the KKMP (Merah Putih Village Cooperative) of the Tarakan Branch in ensuring distribution of rice and other staple food to communities in coastal and border areas.

Febby conveyed that this collaboration emphasized that food security is not only the duty of the government, but a collective movement that involves people's strength through cooperatives.

"We at Perum Bulog really understand the importance of equitable distribution of food access, especially in the leading, outermost, underdeveloped and border areas. Together with KDKMP, we built a populist, efficient, and reaching the door of people's houses," he said in his statement, Sunday, August 24.

According to Febby, local cooperatives have a strategic role as a node for distribution and strengthening the people's economy, as well as an important partner in maintaining food price stability.

He said that Bulog not only distributes food stocks, but also supports strengthening cooperative institutions through training, mentoring, and a transparent and targeted distribution system.

For example, in Tarakan, the collaboration between Buloh and KKMP Selumit has succeeded in facilitating the distribution of SPHP rice (Stability of Supply and Food Prices) directly to the public at affordable prices, without a long distribution chain that burdens consumers. This is a collaborative model that we want to replicate throughout Indonesia," he continued.

Febby explained that KDKMP is part of the modern cooperative movement initiated to strengthen national economic resilience from the local level.

According to him, with a network of thousands of branches throughout the archipelago, this cooperative is the spearhead of food distribution and family economic empowerment.

"Bulog sees cooperatives as long-term strategic partners, which not only helps distribute rice and basic commodities, but is also part of solutions in handling price fluctuations, government food reserves, and food assistance to vulnerable communities," he explained.

Febby explained that in the context of food security, the synergy between Bulog and cooperatives is not just a logistical matter, this is part of defending the country in a real sense, namely keeping the people's stomach full, stable, and prosperous.

"We want to show that this collaboration is a tangible form of economic nationalism. When Bulog and cooperatives unite, we not only distribute rice, we are safeguarding the nation's food sovereignty," he said.

Febby added that from Sabang to Merauke, Bulog together with KDKMP continued to expand the reach of food distribution.

He conveyed that with an integrated warehouse network and logistics fleet, Bulog ensured that no territory in Indonesia was left behind in food affairs.

"Through concrete steps such as in Tarakan, Bulog proves that collaboration between food SOEs and community cooperatives is able to answer the challenges of food distribution in the modern era, as well as strengthen the local economy," he said.

Febby said that Bulog supports the presence of KDKMP as a national priority program from the Government.

As for Presidential Instruction 9 of 2025, KDKMP has the spirit of building economic strength from the village/kelurahan level through a mutual cooperation system by ensuring the availability and food and basic needs of the village/kelurahan community.

Hingga saat ini, sebanyak 474 KDKMP telah dilakukan tap in sebagai Rumah Pangan Kita (RPK) oleh Buloh dan memiliki turnover penjualan lebih dari Rp4,7 miliar.

For information, the RPK is a community-owned outlet fostered by Bulog and can distribute various kinds of commodities owned by Bulog.
