Scoring 2 Goals, Gyokeres Sends Warning Signal To Opposite: We Can Be A Big Threat
JAKARTA - Arsenal's new striker, Viktor Gyokeres, performed brilliantly by scoring two goals as the Gunners silenced Leeds United with a landslide score of 5-0 in the second week of the Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium, London, Saturday night WIB yesterday.
This became Gyokeres' first goal in the Premier League as well as affirming his role in the front line of Mikel Arteta's squad.
"I feel good today, of course by scoring two goals and a five-goal win team. I think this shows that we can be a big threat and go ahead as many of our players contribute to the attack line, but also very solid in defense," Gyokeres said. quoted from the club's official website, Sunday, August 24.
The Swedish striker also praised the collective performance of his team which was able to suppress opponents and master the game throughout the match.
"We pressed very well today and didn't give them much time to control the ball. I think we deserved to win," he added.
Gyokeres just made their debut with Arsenal against Manchester United in the Premier League opener. However, in that match, the former Sporting Lisbon striker has not shown his sharpness after failing to record a shot on target and was pulled out after 60 minutes of play.
However, in the second week, Gyokeres proved his capacity as a sharp striker. The brace against Leeds not only delivered Arsenal's victory but also marked the start of his goal record with the North London club.
"It's amazing being able to feel support from the first minute to the end. It gives me extra energy. Winning 5-0 and maintaining a clean sheet is something extraordinary," he said.
