Indonesian National Team Injury Crisis Ahead of Kuwait Match, Jodri Amat: Recovery Process
JAKARTA - Indonesian national team player Jordi Amat has responded to the injury crisis looming over the Indonesian national team. This is especially true when the Garuda squad will face FIFA Matchday matches against Kuwait and Lebanon in September.
Several Indonesian national team players have reportedly been injured, including Ole Romeny, Kevin Diks, and Maarten Paes. Regarding the condition of his teammates, Jordi Amat admitted that he has spoken to them and is praying for the best.
"I hope they recover quickly. I've spoken with them and they're in the recovery process. I wish them all the best," Jordi said at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on Sunday, August 24.
Jordi himself was included in the 27-man Indonesian national team call-up ahead of the September 2025 FIFA Matchday. The 33-year-old defender expressed optimism about the Garuda squad's upcoming matches against Kuwait and Lebanon.
"I'm very happy (to be called up to the Indonesian national team). It's an honor to be on the national team and back in the same dressing room as Rizky Ridho and the rest of my teammates," said Jordi.
"We had two big friendlies and were able to train and improve everything. It feels great to be back with them," he continued.
The Indonesian national team will face Kuwait on September 5 and Lebanon on September 8. Both matches will take place at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya.
"This is a good friendlies, and we have to prepare the team to be more cohesive for October (the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers)," he said.
"We're playing in front of a large crowd of supporters in Surabaya. It will be an exciting and important match, so we have to focus," Jordi emphasized.
