Bandung Prepares 6 Evacuation Points To Anticipate The Potential For Lembang Fault Earthquakes
JABAR - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has prepared six evacuation locations in case of an earthquake due to Lembang Fault activity.
Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwin said the six evacuation points were Taman Tegalega, Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium (GBLA), Gasibu, Bandung City Square, Ganesha Cultural Sasana (Sabuga), and Arcamanik Sports Field.
"The impact of the earthquake can spread to infrastructure, the economy, to social communities. Therefore, our policy direction is more on preventive and preparedness efforts, not just responsive," Erwin said in Bandung, Sunday.
According to him, this policy is in accordance with Regional Regulation Number 5 of 2022 concerning Disaster Management.
Erwin emphasized that the potential for the Lembang Fault disaster cannot be taken lightly because it is located close to densely populated urban areas.
He explained that the threat of the Lembang Fault was included in the priority program of the Bandung City RPJMD.
"The Bandung City Government has also formed a Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) as a special institution so that cross-sectoral coordination is more optimal," he said.

In addition, mapping earthquake-prone areas is carried out in collaboration with the ITB Faculty of Earth Science and Technology. This mapping is the basis for determining development priorities and community education.
"The Bandung City Government is also intensifying preparedness education by means of evacuation simulations in schools, offices, and residents' environments," he said.
He added that collaboration with academics and communities is the key to mitigation success. Erwin also reminded the public to remain calm but vigilant.
"Preparedness does not mean scaring, but rather wise steps to protect yourself and your family. Start from small things, such as knowing the evacuation route and preparing disaster preparedness bags," he said.
