Hajj Bill Is Immediately Ratified, Palace: It Is Hoped That The Implementation Of Hajj Will Be Better
Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi, who is also the spokesman for the President of the Republic of Indonesia, hopes that the implementation of the pilgrimage will be better in the future after the DPR approves the Hajj Bill (RUU) which is a revision of Law Number 8/2019.
Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the last few days, including this weekend, is speeding up the discussion of the Hajj Bill so that it is hoped that the bill can be approved and ratified at the Plenary Session at the MPR Complex, DPR, DPD RI, Jakarta, Tuesday (26/8) next week.
"The hope is clear that there is only one, the implementation of the Hajj will get even better," said Prasetyo when met on the sidelines of his activities participating in the 8.0 K Merdeka Run, quoted by ANTARA Jakarta, Sunday, August 24, responding to reporters' questions about the Hajj Bill which will be passed on Tuesday.
Pras, as he is popularly called, did not explain further about the details of the Hajj Bill. He only responded briefly: "It is being finalized in the DPR".
Commission VIII of the DPR RI held a meeting with the DPD RI in Jakarta, Saturday (23/8) to hear considerations regarding the Bill on the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah. The meeting, which was open to the public, lasted for approximately 20 minutes. After that, Commission VIII of the DPR RI again held a closed meeting with the working committee (pemployment) from the government to discuss the list of problem inventory (DIM) of the Hajj and Umrah Bill. The discussion of DIM between the DPR and the government lasts until today (24/8).
In the meetings that have been held by the DPR RI together with the DPD and the government, several important points are the Bill on the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah, including the change in the nomenclature of the Hajj Organizing Body (BP) to become a ministry, and the change in the mention of the Head of the Hajj BP to become a minister.

Another point is that the meetings also discuss rules that allow Hajj officers not to be Muslim. The provisions are addressed to embarkation officers in areas in Indonesia where the majority of citizens are not Muslims. This provision does not apply to the organizing committee for Hajj (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia.
Then, other important points, the district/city level hajj quota is set by the minister. The previous rule states that the quota at the district/city level is set by the governor.
