Sad News: Ayu Resmayati, Life Partner of Mar'ie Muhammad "Mr. Clean", Passes Away

YOGYAKARTA - Ayu Resmayati Mar'ie Muhammad, wife of former Minister of Finance from 1993 to 1998, Mar'ie Muhammad, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

The sad news was spread through a text message received by several journalists.

"Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. Passed away today, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 6:03 PM in Jakarta. Our beloved mother, Nini, sister, and sister, Ayu Resmiyati (Etty) Mar'ie Muhammad (mother of our friend Rifina Mar'ie). Allahummaghfir lahaa warhamhaa wa 'aafihaa wa'fu 'anhaa, aamiin, O Lord," the text message read.

Ayu Resmijati Mar'ie Muhammad passed away at Medistra Hospital in Jakarta, and was laid to rest at the funeral home located at Green Intan Residence, Lot 15, Jalan Intan RSPP, West Cilandak, South Jakarta.

For your information, Mar'ie Muhammad was known as the Minister of Finance in the 6th Development Cabinet (1993–1998), having previously served as Director General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance from 1988–1993.

He was nicknamed Mr. Clean for his commitment to fighting corruption within the Ministry of Finance, and he was also known for his efforts to increase efficiency and rid the institution of unscrupulous practices.
