Undip Releases 57 Patriot Expedition Teams To 13 Provinces

SSEMARANG-Diponegoro University (Undip) Semarang has officially released the departure of the Patriot Expedition Team which will carry out community service, research and exploration missions in 13 provinces of the transmigration region in Indonesia.

Undip Chancellor Prof. Suharnomo, in Semarang, Saturday, said there were at least 285 Patriot Expedition program participants consisting of students, alumni, and lecturers from various faculties at Undip.

"They will carry out a series of activities such as field research, community education, regional potential development, as well as promotion of national values and love for the country," he said.

The Patriot Expedition Team is one of the strategic programs of the Ministry of Transmigration that assigns young researchers to transmigration areas to review potential resources, identify superior commodities, and formulate regional development strategies.

To run this flagship program, the Ministry of Transmigration cooperates with seven universities, one of which is Undip.

Suharnomo explained that the program was not only a manifestation of the implementation of the tertiary tri dharma, but also to instill the spirit of patriotism among the younger generation.

He emphasized the participants to determine the correct intentions when deciding to leave and be part of the expedition team, namely providing benefits to the community.

"Remember always to respect local culture and wisdom where it is placed. Where the earth is stepped on, there the sky is upheld. Be an inspirational driver. Fill in public spaces with positive things that build the nation's optimism," he said.

Meanwhile, the PIC Patriot Expedition Team Prof. Dr. Ing WiwandDi Handayani explained that the team will run the program for four months, and previously will get a briefing from the Ministry of Transmigration.

"The drivers and young researchers will conduct a study that produces external regional development plans and identification of natural or regional potentials," said the Professor of the Department of Regional and Urban Planning (PWK) of the Undip Faculty of Engineering.

The Patriot Expedition Team will explore areas covering 13 provinces, 35 districts, and 57 transmigration areas which are scheduled to start gradually from 26-31 August 2025 which ends on 9 December 2025.

At that location, they will carry out various activities, such as: mapping potential resources; SME assistance; appropriate technology training; environmental education; and others.

Through this program, it is hoped that it will be able to strengthen the cooperation network between universities, local governments, local communities, and the community, as well as raise the potential for areas that have not been touched much.

"The goal is to have a transmigration location later, not only to move the population, but to be able to develop into a center of economic growth," he said.
