Manchester United Rejects Offer For Harry Maguire, Will Contract Extend Again?

JAKARTA - Harry Maguire revealed that Manchester United had rejected an offer regarding its availability this summer. This hints at the extension of the center-back's contract.

Maguire was eager to extend his term of service by signing a new contract. Currently, he started his seventh season in the Red Devils after his 80 million move from Leicester City in 2019.

In January 2025, Manchester United had activated the option to extend its contract until 2026.

However, the centre-back said that it did not stop other clubs from expressing interest during the summer transfer market.

"I think there are some clubs that might ask or talk to them (Manchester United). I think they got a quick response."

"I'm pretty sure the club has told this summer that I can't go on any condition as other clubs ask me various things and my position is related to the contract."

"We are in a good position, positive as a club, and I feel high-ranking have been present, and Jason manisg (Director of Sports) and manager (Ruben Amorim), I feel they are pointing it in the right direction."

"I think, since I started six years ago until now, the structure behind the management staff has been very different," Maguire said.

Maguire should have had his contract expired this summer had Manchester United not taken the option to extend his contract for 12 months.

Entering the last year, he can start negotiating with clubs outside the Premier League starting January 1, 2026 if there is no new deal with Manchester United.

The 32-year-old doesn't talk much about his future, but hints at his preference to stay at Old Trafford.

"Last year, the clause was in their hands, so there was no choice for me. There was no talk."

"They just activate it and extend it. This year, obviously I will end it at the end of the year."

"I'm sure in the next few months they will be sitting together. We have to discuss where we want to go and whether they want to extend or obviously the transfer window will reopen in January 2026."

"I already have plans about what I want to do and what I want to be. I don't want to reveal it to everyone."

"However, it's an amazing club to play. You'd be stupid if you wanted to leave him as soon as possible," Maguire said.
