Massive SPHP Disbursed, Minister Of Agriculture Amran Calls Rice Prices Gradually Down
JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan), Andi Amran Sulaiman, said rice prices began to show a downward trend in a number of areas.
He said that until now the price of rice in 13 provinces has decreased thanks to the massive operation of the rice market for the Stabilization of Supply and Food Prices (SPHP).
He said the claim for this price reduction was when he visited the Bulu Market, Semarang, Central Java, on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
"Alhamdulillah, we saw the SPHP market operation, which now has 6,000 tons of daily distribution. We are targeting to increase by 7,000 tons and then 10,000 tons per day."
"This has had a good impact on lowering prices in 13 provinces, maybe 15 provinces have dropped prices. This is very good for all of us," said Amran.

Amran ensured that the SPHP market operation will last until December 2025 with a total distribution of 1.3 million tons of rice throughout Indonesia.
According to him, cross-agency synergies including the TNI/Polri also accelerated efforts to stabilize prices.
In addition to market operations, another factor that encourages the decline in rice prices is the increase in the absorption of farmers' grain.
"We noticed that the absorption of unhulled rice increased from 3,000 tons to 6,000 tons per day. This means that the price of rice downstream has decreased and the absorption of grain in farmers has increased."
"However, we continue to keep the price of unhulled rice at least according to the HPP of IDR 6,500 per kilogram so that farmers remain prosperous and consumers can smile," he said.
Furthermore, Amran emphasized that the current national rice stock is very abundant, reaching 4 million tons. This condition is much better than last year when Indonesia still had to import up to 7 million tons of rice.
"Today we can meet our own needs without imports. This is a big achievement in many other countries where rice difficulties are actually."
"We should be grateful, our stock is high, prices are starting to fall, and there are no rice imports," he said.
He added that domestic rice production went smoothly as there were harvests in various production centers.
With the HPP scheme set by the Government, farmers get price certainty so they are encouraged to continue to increase production throughout the year.
"The government is working hard to ensure the welfare of farmers is maintained, while the community gets affordable prices."
"With market operations continuing, we ensure that rice prices will decline in the next few weeks."
"The public does not need to worry, the availability of our rice is safe, the rice stock in Bulog is high, we are pouring it out, plus harvest is everywhere," he said.
