Pramono Opens The Opportunity For Residents From All Over Indonesia To Look For Jobs In Jakarta But With Conditions

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung opens opportunities for residents from any area to look for job opportunities in Jakarta. However, on condition that they must have the skills and expertise needed in this metropolitan city.

"We must not close the opportunity to work for residents outside Jakarta and we remain open as long as everyone has the skills needed," he said, quoting Antara.

He emphasized that residents outside Jakarta who want to try their luck to Jakarta must really have qualified abilities and be able to compete in getting a job.

"I myself came from outside Jakarta and used to want to try my luck here until now I have lived in Jakarta," he said.

He said that there are indeed more job vacancies in Jakarta than other provinces outside Jakarta and this shows that there is hope for outsiders to work here.

"We certainly should not close that hope," he said.

He added that when opening job vacancies in various positions, officers at the Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) from the 1,000 available positions, 24,405 people registered and many of them came from outside Jakarta.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has held 13 job fair exhibitions spread across a number of areas in Jakarta.

"We are targeting that for this year there will be 21 'job fair' organized by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to bring together job seekers and job vacancies available," he said.

Pram admitted that he did not want people to flock to offices looking for work. Therefore, his party seeks to bring together job seekers with vacancies in the existing "job fair".

"The city of Jakarta must fight with cities in the world, so the opponent is no longer a city in Indonesia," he said.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released the State of Manpower in DKI Jakarta with the number of workforces based on the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) in February 2025 as many as 5.47 million people an increase of 41.62 thousand people compared to February 2024.

The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) increased by 0.23 percentage points compared to February 2024.

The population working in February 2025 was 5.14 million people, an increase of 30.82 thousand people from February 2024. The business field that experienced the largest increase was Other Service Activities of 4.42 thousand people.

In February 2025 as many as 3.19 million people (62.05 percent) worked in formal activities, down by 1.89 percentage points compared to February 2024.

Meanwhile, the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in February 2025 was 6.18 percent, an increase of 0.15 percentage points compared to February 2024.
